The Enez Fatih Hagia Sophia Mosque was originally built as a church in the 12th century and converted into a mosque in 1456. Over the centuries, the building carried traces of both Byzantine and Ottoman heritage but deteriorated over time and was unused for many years.

The mosque was restored by Pekerler İnşaat starting in 2016 and reopened for worship and visits in 2021. Pekerler is a firm specialized in preserving cultural heritage since 1948.

This project holds great significance for both the local community and history enthusiasts.
